You have all felt that earthquake — dumpr had an unexpected downtime of approximately 3 hours.
This was caused due to a change I was trying to make to the server configuration to make it run faster. That experiment failed and blew up in my face, causing a hellish downtime and a nervous breakdown. The good news is that no user data has been deleted or corrupted.
On a side note, I have been a bad blogger. I should blog more often. Last blog entry was when I moved to this new hosting. Since then I have added many new effects, plenty of new features and the userbase growth has been amazing! I will use this space to share the experience with dumpr’s users. Thank you for being one!

- New effect is online: the marvelous Rubik’s Cube Generator! Since its appearance a few days ago, there have been more than 50,000 creations! Talk about instant hit! Go ahead, give it a go: create your own custom rubik’s cube

- We have grown tenfold. This calls both for celebration AND for new servers! We are moving to a very (very) powerful server in the next few days!

I know it’s been a while since last update. There’s a lot going on behind the scenes. Been working on some ubersweet stuff that will make it online a month from now. I mess up a bit
I have revised the user interface, it came out really nice. Upload and process have been going on in the background with a dialog box saying “Please wait, we’re processing your photo”. It all came out neat and dandy, but it was broken on IE. Thanks for everybody who sent in an email. I’m terribly sorry for the inconvenience. Around 50% of dumpr’s users are running Internet Explorer, so the thousands of daily generated photos made me think everything was fine.
In other news, new features for dumpr are:
- Better and nicer interface
- Integration with Plaxo (send emails to contacts from your GMail, Outlook and Yahoo address book!)
- Add to your del.icio.us and facebook bookmarks
- Easier embedding in blogs and myspace

Easter is now over, we hope you all had fun with your family and friends. We do know you have created over 20,000 easter-eggs and shared them with everybody you knew! This was a real seasonal hit!

Photojojo has posted an entry about museumr today. I wasn’t expecting it, and 6,000 visitors (so-far) have caught me by surprise!
Welcome everyone, and thanks for playing with dumpr. I have received a large number of emails today, thanks for everybody who wrote in.The insanely high number of visitors surfaced all the bugs that were in the system. My finger is on the pulse and I’m constantly checking that service is working, but please realize that there have been some minor downtimes. These will be fixed as soon as possible, when the demand lowers a bit.

It has been a few weeks since the last update. Loyal dumpr.net fans have noticed all the changes and new features that were being added from time to time. It has been a great period for the dumpr.net group on flickr. There are many members, and more are joining daily! Thanks everyone for the interest!
Here’s a quick run-through over the new features:
- Amazing-Circles is an addicting effect of turning photos into these cool orbs. You won’t believe how hooked you’ll be until you try it yourself. Since launch last week, there have been more than 8,000 creations! Told you it’s catchy
- The ever-changing design scene is now using floor reflections in web design, user interface design, tv commercials, you name it! You can now create your own reflections with dumpr.net’s reflection tool.
- Some redesign of the dumpr.net’s icons. Now it makes a bit more sense what “fave findr” (formally Similr) does
